Recap of the First Algae Exhibition: A Key Milestone for the Sector and the CIRCALGAE Project

Over two days, we met a diverse audience: professionals, innovation stakeholders, curious individuals, families… The opening to the general public on Sunday was a great success. We gathered numerous testimonials, answered questions that were sometimes in-depth, sometimes full of curiosity, and observed genuine enthusiasm for the potential applications of algae in our daily lives.

At our booth, we presented several prototypes from the CIRCALGAE project, covering the food, feed, and cosmetics sectors. Some visitors were able to test algae-based creams and discover the immense diversity of uses these biomasses can offer. These concrete exchanges helped illustrate the sector’s real potential: nutrition, health, agriculture, well-being, materials… algae open up an exciting field of possibilities.

We also discussed the many European opportunities that encourage this type of collaborative project, as well as the well-established dynamics in France: industrial innovations, advances in applied research, the emergence of new value chains, and the upskilling of stakeholders. As a competitiveness cluster, we are committed to supporting these promising initiatives for the sector, thanks to our expertise in project development, network structuring, and our solid scientific knowledge of the sector. This exhibition was also an opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, particularly among our members, and to strengthen ties within our ecosystem.

This exhibition confirmed how essential it is to change mindsets and practices around algae. And it is precisely by meeting citizens, explaining, demonstrating, and allowing them to experience the innovations of tomorrow, that we contribute to changing perceptions and supporting the structuring of a sustainable and competitive sector.

For CIRCALGAE, as for AQUIMER, this first edition marks a turning point and reinforces our commitment to continue to raise awareness, experiment, and support the development of innovative algae-based solutions.
