4th Potsdam Conference on the Bio-based Economy

In view of the exceptional circumstances experienced in recent months, the 4th Potsdam Conference on the Biobased Economy took place online on 5 June 2020.

This virtual edition, again jointly organised by the Brandenburg clusters of the food industry, plastics and chemicals, metal, energy technology and the Berlin-Brandenburg EEN network, saw a much higher participation than in previous years, with entities representing 36 countries from around the world. More than 200 online B2B meetings were scheduled.

This conference aims to connect participants from different sectors and regions of the world to innovate together and add value to activities based on residual raw materials.

“Today we are definitely entering the “Biobased Era” where the sustainable bio-economy no longer foresees waste. This conference has highlighted the importance of waste and cross-border collaboration, but also the new opportunities that will open up for SMEs in different sectors”.

Margherita Vece, Policy Officer Europe
