Context

While container transport allows the transport of many goods and reduces handling in ports, loading and unloading of containers remain accidental operations in the logistics sector. Indeed, the multitude of exporting countries, the optimization of space in containers and the size of pallets that are not compatible with containers are all reasons that push shippers to load containers in bulk from floor to ceiling. In addition, the unloading of frozen products faces an additional risk of slipping due to the temperature of the container and the presence of moisture.

Reducing the risk of falling on the same level when unloading refrigerated containers by making heated slabs/soles to prevent slipping on ice.

About the <strong>project </strong>

Based on this observation, the objectives of the project are to identify the causes of the loss of adhesion in the containers and to provide an innovative solution to reduce the risk of slipping during unloading operations. For this purpose, the project partners wish to develop a material that maintains adhesion to the ground in an environment of around -20°C throughout the unloading process.
