FISH PARASITES
Fish Endoparasites: hazard identification, impact and research for an effective prevention strategy
Context
Fish, like all animal species, are often subject to parasites. Some parasites change the texture, appearance or color of fish. The presence of parasites in fish is very complex and difficult to control. In addition, some parasites are transmissible to humans, and can develop into diseases or infections.
Objective
Developing innovative methods to detect parasites that affect the health of consumers and to set up suitable training programs.
About the <strong>project </strong>
The project includes (i) the identification of parasites detected in the most commonly consumed fish in Europe, (ii) the exploration of factors that could facilitate the establishment of parasite populations, (iii) the provision of strategies for detecting parasites on production lines, (iv) the study of the involvement of parasites in the spoilage of fish products placed on the market, (v) the establishment of a scientific platform for the identification of fish parasites, (vi) the development of a continuous training program.
