SEPLA
Alternative solutions to single-use plastic packaging
Context
Every year, between 8 and 12 million tons of plastic are dumped into the oceans.
To reduce this pollution, the French government has passed an anti-waste law that sets two major objectives: to reach 100% of recycled plastic by 2025 and to end the marketing of single-use plastic packaging by 2040.
Objective
The objective of the SEPLA project is to support companies in the seafood industry in finding alternative solutions to the single-use plastic packaging currently used.
About the project
The alternative solutions to be considered will be multiple both according to their intervention in the value chain and the types of products and associated conservation requirements. To achieve that, an inventory will be carried out on the whole aquatic products sector and for different matrices. It will constitute a basis for the proposal of different scenarios of packaging evolution.
